JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate Co-Parenting Group Sessions
  • Facilitate Co-Parenting Individual Sessions
  • Creat and maintain an engaging learning nvironment
  • Communicate with Participants/Coworkers in an Effective & Respectful manner
  • Research and develop materials neccessary to develop/supplement program curriculum as needed
  • Evaluate student progress based on learning objectives/outcomes
  • Other duties as assigned

MISSION

  • The mission of f.a.c.e.s. Family and Co-Parenting Enrichment Services is to enhance family functioning through a psychoeducational approach focusing on healing family relationships. 

POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Co-Parenting Instructor provides instruction in the following areas:
  • Child-Focused: Ability to understand divorce and/or separation from the child’s point of view. Ability to understand developmental, emotional and physical effects on the child/ children.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication that develops healthy co-parenting relationships. Understand and apply reflective listening and negotiation skills.
  • Flexible Thinking: Ability to understand and apply flexible thinking in and outside the classroom in the Co-Parenting relationship.
  • Managing Emotions: Ability to understand triggers, emotions, feelings and actions. Ability to understand how conflict develops and techniques to control emotions and reduce Co-Parenting conflict.
  • Co-Parenting Skills: Ability to coach and facilitate parents practicing the skills taught in class.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to be instruct for 2 -3 hours without a break
  • Frequent and prolonged standing, walking and sitting
  • Ability to seek assistance with students in emergency situations
  • Frequent and prolonged talking 
  • Frequently lifting or carrying chairs, desks or tables, course-related equipment/supplies up to 25 pounds, as needed for the classroom
  • Frequently using arms and hands write on chalkboards or flip charts
  • Ability to follow oral directions in emergency situations
  • Travel to multiple sites required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Contained and secured
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties.
  • Work environment varies from site to site. There is some personal safety risk working with the High-conflict population.
  • Moderate noise level

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Prior teaching/mentoring experience preferred
  • Knowledge of how to educate high conflict clients.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in effective methodology and techniques used to instill confidence and self-respect in adult students
  • Knowledge of behavioral and developmental theories 
  • Computer skills—Computers used for tracking attendance, grades, etc.
  • A team player with experience working in a collaborative environment
  • Professional manner and appearance
  • Possesses conflict resolution skills
  • Is patient and caring
  • Uses good organizational skills to meet the needs of his/her class
  • Is open to innovative approaches to meeting educational goals
  • Promotes and supports multiculturalism
  • Is capable of working with classroom groups of varying size
  • Is adaptable and flexible
  • Ability to maintain strong and appropriate boundaries with personal identifying information when interacting with students or community or program partners, and while at program location or community or program partner site
  • Exceptional written communication skills; ability to express complex ideas with clarity and precision in written documents
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Advanced problem-solving skills; tactfully address and resolve questions/concerns
  • Basic knowledge of court terminology
  • Ability to complete reports

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

This position typically requires:

  • Licensed Social Worker, Counselor, Family Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Specialist and related careers are preferred
  • Teaching/Mentoring experience preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related field equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Microsoft 365 and Skype
